| IPSCO's sole line of business is steelmaking and fabricating. The Regina Steelworks has an annual capacity of 1,000,000 tons of steel produced in two electric arc furnaces. IPSCO's second steelmaking facility is in Montpelier, Iowa with a capacity of 1,250,000 tons. It specializes in discrete plate but has the capability of producing hot rolled coil. In 2001, IPSCO Alabama Steelworks commenced production at its new 1,250,000 tons per annum steelmaking facility in Mobile County. As with IPSCO's other two steelmaking facilities, this facility will use steel scrap as its primary raw material. Electric arc steelmaking uses recycled scrap iron and steel; yearly consumption for the Montpelier and Regina facilities at capacity: 2,500,000 tons. IPSCO currently operates six pipemaking facilities across western Canada and in the U.S.; pipe sizes range from 2-80" in diameter. (Regina, Saskatchewan; Calgary, Red Deer, Alberta; Camanche, Iowa; Geneva, Nebraska; Blytheville, Arkansas) IPSCO also operates cut-to-length facilities in Regina, Saskatchewan; Surrey, British Columbia; St. Paul, Minnesota; Toronto, Ontario; and in Houston, Texas.
